Girls' Bill of Right

Girls have the right to be themselves and resist gender stereotypes.

Girls have the right to express themselves with originality and enthusiasm.   Girls have the right to take risks, to strive freely, and to take pride in success.   Girls have the right to accept and appreciate their bodies.    Girls have the right to have confidence in themselves and to be safe in the world.   Girls have the right to prepare for interesting work and economic independence.

Be an advocate...
Each year, Girls Inc. declares a weeklong advocacy and public education event known as Girls' Rights Week.  During Girls' Rights Week, over 75 Girls Inc. affiliates mobilize to advocate on behalf of girls in communities across America.  With over 36 million girls in this country, we can all impact the lives of girls and recognize the challenges girls face daily and consider how you can make a positive difference. Be an advocate:

Tell Her that the glass ceiling is the name of a fairy tale.

Tell Her she can find empowerment in herself.

Tell Her she has the strength to overcome any obstacle.

Tell Her she can achieve her dreams.

Tell Her she is Strong, Smart and Bold.

Since 2004, Girls Inc. of San Antonio has inspired over 2000 girls to make positive life choices and reach their full potential.  We continue to pursue new and improved ways to contribute to the positive development of girls in San Antonio and Bexar County.

Do your part to encourage support for girls as they work to access their rights. Find ways to amplify the voices of this often silenced constituency and share the empowering message of Girls' Rights. For more information about Girls' Rights, visit www.girlsinc.org.
